Understanding DLT templates
As per TRAI regulations, for any SMS that you wish to send, you need to approve a template.
Let's understand how the templates work.
Each template is made up of the following:
Template name
You can choose any name for your SMS template. For example, if you are sending a welcome SMS, the template name could be Welcome to my academy
Template Content
This is the actual content that needs to be approved by your DLT service provider. The content for different templates can be found in this article.
Please note: Every template content will have variables that look like {#var#}. The variables mean the different words that will be in the SMS.
For example, in the following template content we have a variable
Hi {#var#}, Welcome to my academy. We are very happy to have you on board. Don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions.
In the actual message, variable would be the word.
Example message:
Hi John, Welcome to (my academy). We are very happy to have you on board. Don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions.
You can add the following templates for different SMS on your DLT service provider dashboard
